What a fantastic and moving interview with Carolyn who lost her best friend. The death of her friend brought her to the The Camino de Santiago ( Read below for what that is if you don’t know). You may be familiar with a film about this walk called “The Way” directed by Emilio Estavez, and starring his father Martin Sheen (2010). Carolyn talked of her grief and how this walk was a spiritual oasis for her from her pain. This is one of the most emotional interviews I have done in my 30 years of broadcasting. I just wanted to hug her! The Camino de Santiago, known in English as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrims' ways or pilgrimages leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saints are buried there.
